The sticky rice is prepared inside the bamboo with coconut milk and sugar. The woman put it over the fire for hours and let the heat do the work. When they give it to you, it looks like a regular bamboo stick. You have to pull out the hay that covers the top, and then peel open the bamboo stick to reveal delicious sticky rice.
I do wish this was a snack I could find anywhere else in the world. The simpler the meal the richer. It’s a reminder of how close our food should be from the earth.
